6-Week Directors Workshop

Service Description

Delve more deeply into the director's toolkit over six weeks. Get practical experience leading actors toward rich, compelling, authentic performances in a variety of media. Hone the director’s craft without the pressure of production. Work from your own or published material. Each week we incorporate exercises designed to enhance the understanding of what a director does. Here's an example from a recent session: WEEK 1 – Where Are We in the Story? WEEK 2 – Creating Character through Blocking WEEK 3 – Improvisation - When and How? WEEK 4 – Raising the Stakes WEEK 5 – Side Coaching vs. Letting it Roll WEEK 6 – Multi-Character Scenes Participants work from scripts, pilots, web series, or plays. You may bring your own material or work from provided scripted material. In this hands-on workshop, you will work the craft of directing with director-teacher Robert Bailey. Robert has been directing and acting for over thirty years. He teaches directing and acting at USC, and is a director and acting teacher at New York Film Academy.
