About the event
Each week we incorporate exercises designed to enhance the understanding of what a director does. Below is an example from the Fall 2018 workshop.
WEEK 1 – Exploring subtext and character
WEEK 2 – Dramatic or Comic circumstances
WEEK 3 – Rehearsing beat by beat
WEEK 4 – Directing the actions: What behavior is possible?
WEEK 5 – Intensifying the performances
WEEK 6 – Giving the scene shape and rhythm
Participants work from scripts, pilots, web series, or plays. You may bring your own material or work from provided scripted material. In this hands-on workshop, you will work the craft of directing with director-teacher Robert Bailey. Robert has been directing and acting for over thirty years. He teaches directing and acting at USC, and is a director and acting teacher at New York Film Academy.
THE DIRECTORS WORKSHOP
